    Coelle & Corey – Expecting!

I don’t do a ton of maternity photos, but when I found out my very dear friend, Coelle, was pregnant, I knew I wanted to photograph her with a cute baby bump! Coelle and Corey are going to make such amazing parents, and that baby is going to be super smart, talented, and beautiful. We didn’t have the best weather yesterday, but we made it work in between sprinkles.01_merdler_expecting_blog 02_merdler_expecting_blog 03_merdler_expecting_blog 04_merdler_expecting_blog 05_merdler_expecting_blog 06_merdler_expecting_blog 07_merdler_expecting_blog08_merdler_expecting_blog 09_merdler_expecting_blog

Coelle and Corey: I’m so excited for you both, and can’t wait to meet (and photograph!) your new little one. Love you! xoxo

  • Coelle & Corey’s Wedding Album

When Coelle and Corey’s Custom Flush Mount Album arrived via UPS, my squeals were probably heard ’round the world. I was so excited to see it! I actually meant to take more photos, but I know they were both anxious to see it as well, so I wanted to get it to them as quickly as possible. They decided to go with an inset cover photo (one of my favorites from the day) and upgraded distressed leather in brown. I wish that somehow you could reach through your screen and feel its buttery softness.

An additional upgrade on this one was an extra 10 pages of design, for a really hefty 40 pages total. I loved the weight and feel of it!

Blind embossing on the cover and also on the spine provided the perfect finishing touches. Love it! (Wanted to keep it.)

  • Coelle & Corey – 05.29.10

We met my senior year of high school when I moved to Virginia from Texas. (Yes – my last year of high school!) She was the first person that befriended me at my new school, and we clicked instantly. We were both endlessly silly and hyper, constantly had the giggles, and let’s just say that we were both also a bit boy-crazy. I’m so thankful that I met her – she made all the difference to my senior year. If you told me back then that one day I would photograph her wedding I would have thought you were nuts (only because I didn’t realize then that I would be doing photography as more than a hobby). But now she has found the one boy that she’s the most crazy about and I did have the huge honor of capturing Coelle’s wedding day memories. I couldn’t be more happy for her and Corey! Better with photos than I am with words, here are the highlights from the day through my lens, starting with Coelle getting hair and makeup done at Hairloom in Brambleton and getting dressed at Lansdowne Resort:

Hopefully Coelle won’t kill me for posting the Marilyn Monroe shot below, but I think it’s one of the cutest things ever:

Then we headed to Breaux Vineyards where Coelle and Corey saw each other before the ceremony. LOVE Corey’s expression here:

The ceremony took place on the lower pavilion. Here are Coelle’s sweet nephews performing the critical task of ringbearers:

I think I can take a little bit of credit for the next part of the ceremony because when Coelle was brainstorming ways to make her wedding personalized, I suggested that instead of a traditional sand ceremony, they could combine nuts and bolts into a jar since Coelle and Corey are both engineers! It was noisy, but so fun:

Chris’s shot of the nuts-and-bolts ceremony:

And his view of the ring exchange:

The rings:The recessional is always one of my favorite parts of the ceremony – they look so happy!

Laura Ritchie of Events in the City (adore her!) did an A-MA-ZING job of coordinating and planning this event. Ready for some scene-stealing reception details? Starting with this fabulous corkboard literally made out of corks to hold the escort cards (love it!):

Go ahead and drool over the following floral arrangements and table settings:

Norman of The Sweet Life outdid himself with this grapevine-inspired cake:

Singer/songwriter and brother of the bride, Brandon Schott, sang Coelle and Corey’s beautiful first dance song.

Sweet parent dance moments are another favorite of mine:

So I’m still not totally clear on the whole story, but I think The University of Maryland’s mascot, Testudo, showing up was a complete surprise to everyone!

UMD is Corey’s alma mater (check out his Terps socks), while Coelle went to Virginia Tech (hence her orange shoes and Hokie feet tattoo):

The band, ‘Round Midnight, kept the dance floor packed all night long:

It was a perfect day! To Coelle, Corey and both of your families, congratulations and best wishes! It was so incredibly wonderful and fun to experience this day with you, and to capture these memories. Corey and Coelle, I am so incredibly happy for you! Love always, Susan

  • Coelle & Corey – Engaged!

Oh gosh, what can I even say about Coelle and Corey without getting uber sappy? Coelle is a very very dear friend of mine from high school. I moved to Virginia my senior year of high school, and Coelle was the first person on the first day to make me feel welcome at my new school. We clicked immediately and were inseparable from then on. I’m super happy that she and Corey found each other, and the two of them make the cutest pair. I think I sort of demanded that I shoot their wedding (you know, in a nice way) and thus their engagement photos as well, so we met this afternoon for the engagement session!

We started off by walking their dog, Zoey, around their cute little town center.

    Whatcha lookin’ at, Zoey?

Okay, not the best angle on Zoey, but I love the silhouette!

Here’s a better one of Zoey!

Are these two so cute or what?

Okay, one last one of the pup before we dropped her off at home…

Corey is a volunteer firefighter, so we stopped by the station to get a couple of pictures with the engine (Corey knows I love shooting there).

    Um, Coelle? You’re gorgeous!

Corey suggested this beautiful little nook in their neighborhood and we finished up the session there.

What did I tell you?! Goooooorgeous!

    So CUTE, you guys!

Coelle and Corey, I’m so gosh darn happy for you two. You KNOW I can’t wait for your wedding! Eee!

  • Addie Is 1!

    Addie Is 1!

So yes, I know I recently made an announcement that I’m no longer taking wedding and portrait clients (for now?), but it’s not every day that Coelle’s baby girl, Addie, turns one! And anyway, Coelle isn’t a client so this is different. 🙂 Addie actually had her birthday last weekend while I was in Colorado, so I spent some time today taking a few portraits of the happiest baby in the world. Seriously, the girl only stopped smiling for maybe two minutes the whole time I was there!

    Behold, the cuteness:
