family photo attempt

Last weekend I met up with Jenn and Stephen to attempt to take a quick family picture with their two kitties. I say attempt, because the kitties didn’t end up being very cooperative. It turns out that because they don’t really like each other, they don’t really want to be in a group photo either. So rather then force them and end up with tons of scratches, we took a few pictures of just the human part of the family instead:

Jenn and Stephen just recently celebrated their one-year anniversary, and this was Stephen’s anniversary gift to Jenn. (Nice job, Stephen!)

And we couldn’t leave Max and Boney out of the photo session completely! We took a few individual pictures. Here is Mr. Max looking rather peeved still. And I don’t think he likes his outfit:

And here is Boney, who doesn’t love the camera but I managed to sneak this one in anyway:

For the record, I adore all animals and am super patient with them! I’ve had some successful people + pet photos in the past, including pictures of just Jenn and Max, but this was my first try with two cats that don’t get along really well and don’t want their picture taken. I guess you can win ‘em all.:)

coelle & corey – engaged!

Oh gosh, what can I even say about Coelle and Corey without getting uber sappy? Coelle is a very very dear friend of mine from high school. I moved to Virginia my senior year of high school, and Coelle was the first person on the first day to make me feel welcome at my new school. We clicked immediately and were inseparable from then on. I’m super happy that she and Corey found each other, and the two of them make the cutest pair. I think I sort of demanded that I shoot their wedding (you know, in a nice way) and thus their engagement photos as well, so we met this afternoon for the engagement session!

We started off by walking their dog, Zoey, around their cute little town center.

Whatcha lookin’ at, Zoey?

Okay, not the best angle on Zoey, but I love the silhouette!

Here’s a better one of Zoey!

Are these two so cute or what?

Okay, one last one of the pup before we dropped her off at home…

Corey is a volunteer firefighter, so we stopped by the station to get a couple of pictures with the engine (Corey knows I love shooting there).

Um, Coelle? You’re gorgeous!

Corey suggested this beautiful little nook in their neighborhood and we finished up the session there.

What did I tell you?! Goooooorgeous!

So CUTE, you guys!

Coelle and Corey, I’m so gosh darn happy for you two. You KNOW I can’t wait for your wedding! Eee!

baby borrowers

Apologies for the blog-silience this week! I’ve been quite busy, and here are a few hints as to why:

If you guessed puppy, you’re right! But not our own puppy - Chris and I watched my friend Coelle’s dog, Zoey, for a few days.

And with that, I think I’m going to cross off #22 and 43 on my 101 in 1001 list – get a dog, and housebreak the dog. I know it’s a stretch to say that I “got a dog” and that I housebroke her on my own, but I’ve decided that this task will fulfill those two items on the list because I realized there’s no way I could keep up with everything else that’s going on in my life if I actually did get a dog in the next couple of years. It’s a full-time job! We had Zoey for about 72 hours, I pretty much didn’t do anything else that wasn’t Zoey-related. I do think we housebroke her for our house though – she only had two minor accidents the first day, and every time after that if we didn’t already anticipate her needing to go out, she walked down the hall and sat by the stairs. She’s such a good girl, and we had a lot of fun having her around! Maybe we’ll eventually think about getting an older dog, but for now that’s a check and check on those two items.

meet zoey

My friend Coelle has just about a billion really cool things going on in her life right now. She just recently bought a fabulous new house, graduated from her Master’s program (I’m so proud of you Coelle!), and as if those two things weren’t monumental enough, she has added Zoey to her life. I visited this evening for the new-home tour, and I got to meet Zoey! This puppy is quite possibly one of the wiggliest most adorable things ever and I’m glad I brought my camera along for an impromptu puppy portrait session:

Zoey is an eleven-week old French Bulldog, and is just the sweetest little thing. She makes the cutest grunting noises and I love her little smooshed face. In addition to exploring her new territories, she has her contemplative moments like this one:

I think we wore her out after playing for a while. She started dozing off, even while sitting up!

She’s only been with Coelle for a few days, but I could already tell how bonded they are. Zoey is one lucky pup – she’s going to be well cared for!
