melissa & land – expecting!

You may remember Melissa and Land on the blog last year? Well this year they have some wonderful news and I was thrilled to meet up with them again to capture this exciting time! Yesterday our nation’s capital blessed us with a taste of summer two days early in the form of 95 degrees and humidity that you could taste. So although our original plan was to take some photos outdoors with a bit of a nature feel, we opted to start the photos indoors and to wait for cooler temperatures. Luckily the city has plenty of indoor locations with a/c, and we had fun finding a few spots in and around the Smithsonian museums. The Museum of Natural History was so packed, but we did grab this first photo that I love:

And then we strolled over to the Museum of American History next door for this other image that I love!

Nope, not on the metro – still at the Museum of American History:

Once it was cool enough to venture outside (thank goodness for a bit of a breeze!), we walked over to the Sculpture Garden:

Life imitating art? This makes me smile:You look amazing, Melissa!

We did manage to work a little nature into some of the photos after all:

Is this kid going to be goooooorgeous, or what?!Congratulations, Melissa & Land! You are both going to be absolutely amazing parents. I can’t wait to see and hear all about him/her (I don’t want to spill the beans in case anyone wants it to be a surprise!) when he/she gets here.:)

Ahhh!!! I LOVE these! I LOOOVE the first one. I wish I was there (I moved to Hershey!) so you could do my maternity pictures! You took a bad weather situation and totally turned it for the best…very cool spots and awesome backgrounds!

alicia & adrian – 06.12.10

Chris and I were driving home from a wedding on Saturday, talking about what a great life experience it is to be a wedding photographer. I don’t think we would have had the opportunity to visit the amazing places we have, and to witness so many beautiful events! I love that about photography in general – the world that opens up to you. Not to mention I’ve met so many wonderful people! Speaking of which, please enjoy these photos from Alicia and Adrian’s wedding!

Alicia is gooooorgeous. You’ll see what I mean in a minute!

Both of you are stunning!

Alicia’s ride to the chapel:

Sigh! The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes is incredible.

I have to be honest, this group photo was much easier than it looks! Everyone just gathered together and placed themselves perfectly.

This makes me giggle:

Fourth groomsman from the left? This was his idea:

Reception time at City Tavern Club:Best wishes and congratulations Alicia & Adrian! Thank you so much for inviting me to photograph your wedding. It was fun to be a part of your day, and I love that I’ll get to see you again in August!:)

You are so incredible! I love all these shots! Beautiful wedding!

mallory & eddie – 06.05.10

I told you wedding season was in full swing! I’ve been editing photos all week to prove it.:)Chris and I photographed Mallory and Eddie’s wedding yesterday on a day that threatened storms, but the weather held up beautifully the entire time. I’m trying to wrap up some more editing (there’s just piles of it!), so I’ll get right to the photos in this post! We started out at the gorgeous Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville.

I love catching little moments like these:

Married!

A couple of quick photos outside of the church…

…And then we went straight to Dominion Valley Country Club where Chris was on detail-duty while I headed outside with the bridal party to take a few portraits.

I love this shot that Chris took from inside the country club. It’s his view…

…of me taking this:

You two both look amazing!

The grounds at the country club were beautiful. Chris’s view:

And my view of the same shot:

A really sweet first dance:

Followed by some fun parent dances:

I added to my collection of grandma-on-the-dance-floor shots!

Sparklers!

Best wishes and congratulations Mallory and Eddie! It was so nice to see you both again on such a wonderful occasion. Thank you so much for allowing Chris and I to be a part of your day – we had a great time capturing these photos for you!

You have been a busy girl! These are fabulous as always. LOVE those Grandmas dancing on the floor.. completely priceless. Those memories will be cherished forever. All of the images of the ceremony are breathtaking. The lighting is perfect.

Nice job, as always! That one of grandma kicking up her heels might be one of my all-time favorites! You capture such awesome moments.

Eileen BroderickJune 17, 2010 - 11:37 pm

Oh, this is a favorite, Susan! Too many favorites to list! But I will name a few. The Gramma shots are awesome!! So fun. You always nail the First Dance shot–another perfect one here. I really like all of the little moments you grabbed during the ceremony in that super cool and well-lit church. (Bonus!) GREAT ending shot, too, with the sparkler! Nice.

Hello perfect coverage…my fav is the “I love capturing moments like this” shot in the ceremony…but I love all their portraits so much too!
