alexis & scott – 5.21.11

There may have been a little something else in the news about 5.21.11, but for Chris and me it was Alexis and Scott’s wedding day at Raspberry Plain in Leesburg, VA, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day! And I pretty much want to jump right into the photos just to show you how fun and fantastic the day was. Two of the sweetest people:

And the sweetest bunch of girls. Hi girls!

Seeing the flowers for the first time (she loves them!):

And for good reason – the flowers were beautiful!

Grandmother’s necklace, which was later wrapped around the bouquet:

I have the cooooooooolest clients!

I love this image that Chris took of Scott’s parents just before the ceremony. How cute is the MOG taking a little peek into the ceremony site?!

Aw!

Lots of smiles, laughs and a few tears during the ceremony:

But mostly big smiles!

Okay, so if you know me well, you’ll realize that me getting out into the middle of this field was kind of a big deal. I think my camera instantly makes me very brave, because I’ll do pretty much anything to get a good shot. And if I wasn’t shooting, there’s usually no way I would wander into a field of tall grasses like this! Hellooooooo bugs and worst of all, ticks! I get goosebumps thinking about it.

But going out into the field was SO WORTH IT. I mean, seriously:

Love all of the fun, bright-colored details at the reception:

Photo of the new Mr. & Mrs. taken by Chris (it almost rhymes)!

Um, so yeah…this next photo that Chris took of the first dance is one of my all-time favorite images of his. Yes, I love it THAT much!

We loved the best man’s fun toast and the reactions to it:

Really sweet maid of honor toast moment:

Really proud parents:

And then it’s time to get down!

We set up the facebooth again, and again it was a big hit! There were even bubbles that made an appearance! So fun:

Hey, look! It’s Lisa, of Lisa & Dan!

Love it!

LOVE this, so much!

Best wishes and congratulations, Alexis and Scott! I can’t think of a better way to have spent 5.21.11.:)We loved celebrating with you, and had such a fun time photographing you and your guests! Wishing you both all the best!

Now that is FAST! I can’t believe you had these ready so quickly. But then again–I can see why you were so excited to work on these right away. What a perfect day! Amazing images, as always. So many sweet and emotional moments captured! Those photos in the field were so worth the bugs!

Is it a prerequisite that all your clients be beautiful? :P LOVE these pictures! Love her flowers and Love that you got those shots in the scary field – they’re awesome. Oh, and I agree – love Chris’s picture, too!

Tears in my eyes as I write this – beyond beautiful! So glad you captured these moments for us to enjoy forever.

Susan – these shots are beautiful, you really captured the emotion of the day! I absolutely love the field pictures and I too am in love w/ Chris’ photo of their first dance. I also like the one later in the evening where the groom has the most peaceful smile on his face while he is dancing with his bride. Beautiful!

Scotty – great photos and congratulations to you, Alexis and each of your families!

All the best,
Shawn

amy & scott – 5.14.11

Amy and Scott were married last Saturday on a day that looked like we would never have a moment of dry sky. The day started off cloudy and misty, and never really let up for more than a few minutes, but the wedding must go on! (That should really be a more common phrase like, “the show must go on.”) Both the ceremony and the reception were held at Airlie Conference Center, and although the grounds were a bit wet, everything was lush and beautiful and the day went just perfectly. Chris started the afternoon by taking some photos of Scott and the guys.

Just chillin’ before the ceremony (I love this shot!):

Meanwhile I hung out with Amy and the girls, and Amy’s amazing dress:

Amy looked stunning!

Petal practice:

Keeping an eye on the weather:

Whoever had the genius idea of wrapping Amy and her dress back up in the original plastic bag is, well, a genius! No one ever looked more beautiful wearing plastic.:)

Once under cover of the pavilion, the plastic was shed and Amy’s father walked her down the aisle.

Married!

We literally had about a 10-minute break from the rain (yay! I’ll take it!), so we quickly took a few portraits around the grounds.

And just as it started to sprinkle again, we grabbed these last two images:

One of Chris’s specialties is capturing the most romantic first dance images. I love both of these!

Sweet parent dances:

And then the paaaaaaar-tay!

And then of course, check out the fun facebooth photos in this previous post. We love the results of the facebooth debut!

Amy and Scott, best wishes and congratulations! Chris and I were thrilled to be a part of your wedding, and we had a ton of fun meeting your friends and family and photographing the day. We wish you both all the best!

facebooth debut: the results!

Amy & Scott’s 5.14.11 wedding was the first time we officially implemented the facebooth, and it was a big hit! The facebooth is perfect for the following uses at a wedding:

Sweet portraits (hey look, it’s Kara & Greg!):

Mug shots:

Fish-faces:

Interpretive dance:

Gang signs:

Flexing a muscle:

Smooching:

And prop usage! (These were actually courtesy of the bridal party who brought them for other purposes, but they were fun to use in the photobooth so I’ve ordered my own set!)

The facebooth is not so great for extreme close-ups, but this is still funny:

And of course, the facebooth is perfect for newlyweds!

More photos from Amy & Scott’s 5.14.11 wedding coming up soon! Check back here, or “like us” on Facebook to be notified of more sneak peeks!
