  • Lauren & Chip – 08.16.08

As I mentioned, I had the great fortune of working with Kate Triano last weekend. She is an absolute sweetheart, and made the day more fun than work. And her images from this wedding are killer to boot, so go take a look! We were blessed with an unusual day weather-wise because it wasn’t hearly as hot or as humid as is characteristic of mid-August in this area. As for the couple, Lauren and Chip are the kind of people who have that amazing knack for making everyone around them feel instantly comfortable and like old friends. They were the most gracious hosts and took obvious care in ensuring that their guests had a spectacular time. Maybe I shouldn’t be so shocked by this, but even after the hustle and bustle and emotions of the day, and even though she and I didn’t spend a lot of time together, Lauren still remembered my name at the end of the night. Me, the second-shooter. I was really impressed and warmed over by the pair of them. I’ll stop babbling and get on to the visuals, which speak for themselves.

It was my privilege to hang out with the guys for a bit before the ceremony. We headed across the street to the Market Square in front of Alexandria City Hall for a couple of shots.

As soon as the shades went on, Ben’s personality came right out and the rest of the guys followed suit.

A calm portrait just before we headed over to the Old Town Presbyterian Meeting House for the ceremony:

I love Chip’s expression just before Lauren walks down the aisle, and then just before the kiss!

All smiles just after the ceremony:

A few fun reception details at the swanky Hotel Monaco on King Street:

Check out the paparazzi during the cake cutting!

    Ben’s signature move:

You know you make me wanna (shout)…throw my hands up and (shout)…

And that last photo just about sums up everyone’s spirits for the day – it was such a feel-good event, and I’m honored to have been a small part of it. Thanks Kate for inviting me along, and best wishes to both Lauren and Chip!

  • Just Daydreaming

    Just Daydreaming

I’m still here! (I feel so guilty when I don’t post anything on the blog for a few days.) I just had kind of a busy week last week, working on an album design, doing some back-end office stuff, and then I second-shot an amazing wedding for the equally amazing Kate Triano on Saturday. So I’ll have some fun pictures for you soon. In the meantime, for no other reason than sheer randomness (and the fact that I am daydreaming about another vacation) here are two pictures from my trip to St. John. I miss the super relaxing evenings sitting on the deck of the villa with the amazing view, enjoying the feel of a summery breeze high up on the hillside. Minus the mosquitoes, of course.

  • Finally!

You know how when you were a little kid and you were giddily aniticpating something HUGE like your birthday, the first day of summer, Christmas or another holiday, or whatever just lit you up from the inside out and made you smile so hard it hurt? What about when you were hoping for something with all of your might, but didn’t know exactly when to expect it, like wishing for your parents to get you a puppy or to take you to Disney World? I think the uncertainty of the wait for something without an exact deadline is even harder than anticipating a specific date. And that’s exactly how I felt about this*:

Not only are The Fratellis finally touring in the U.S., but they’re stopping in DC and playing at my favorite venue, the 9:30 Club! I’ve been waiting for this forever, and didn’t know if the day would ever come. And it’s just a huge bonus that they’ll be at 9:30. Yay!

*Okay, to be fair, I get really excited and giddy over a lot of things. But this is at the top of my current list.

  • Portrait Sessions: Announcement

Attention all of you gorgeous families and adorable couples! The rate for a lifestyle portrait session with me just increased a bit to my new rate of $350. BUT…since I didn’t make an official announcement ahead of time, I’m offering the old rate ($250) if you book now through the end of August. The promotion runs until August 31, 2008, but your appointment doesn’t necessarily have to occur this month. Space is quite limited for the remainder of the summer and through the fall, so please contact me soon to get on my calendar!

Your portrait session will be held in the location of your choice – at a park/playground, hanging out at your home, or any spot where you like to spend time together. Even something like mini-golf or a picnic can make a fun lifestyle portrait session. The session fee can also be applied towards small events such as birthday parties. The session includes a private online proofing gallery for viewing and sharing images with friends and family, a high-resolution disc of your top ten favorite images, and a $50 print credit. Add-ons such as beautiful custom-designed keepsake albums, ready-to-hang canvas gallery wraps, professional print enlargements, and your complete image collection on disc are also available.

This is one of only two SSP promotions that I’ll be offering this year. The other one will be posted very soon, so stay tuned!
