  • My Bad

I think I personally caused a neighborhood blackout last night.

My treadmill is in our loft. When I turn on the power in the loft to the lights, to the ceiling fan and to the treadmill, it has to be done in a certain order – treadmill first, then fan, then lights – and I forgot about that. It always trips our circuits when I do it in the wrong order, and last night I did it wrong so I blew our fuse. Just shortly after Chris reset the fuse box and I turned the treadmill back on, the entire neighborhood lost power. It was pitch black. Was that my fault?! Thankfully it was only for a minute. Oops! My bad.

  • Michelle & Shawn

I had such a fun portrait session with Michelle and Shawn on Saturday – I got to shoot* in one of the U.S. Senate buildings! Shawn works for Senator John Warner, so I even got to shoot in our Senator’s office. The interior of the Russell building was absolutely gorgeous, and I’m so glad they chose that location.

*Note to the feds: “Shoot” in this case refers to images captured with a camera, so please don’t flag me as a suspicious individual or anything.

That’s my confirmation letter for the Flourish workshop in January! I had heard bits and pieces about this fancypants photography workshop in some of the forums that I read, but I thought I had my heart set on the Maine Workshop in July next year, so I didn’t think much of it. But then when I asked some people’s opinions on whether or not they had any experience with the Maine Workshops, they said I should totally come to Flourish! So I looked into it a little more, and decided this would be a good fit for me. The workshop covers portrait and wedding photography business details, includes an all-day shoot and a day of post-processing. Plus, it’s in January, so I can put the knowledge to good use sooner rather than later. I had to jump on it, because spots are very limited and it was almost full. I got one of the last spaces. So, I’m booked and have my flight scheduled as well.

Leap and the net will appear!

  • Brainstorming

    This is “The Notebook.”

Not The Notebook as in Nicholas Sparks, but it’s my Notebook in which I write all of my brainstorming ideas for various things. Lately I’ve been filling it up with thoughts on starting a business and things I need to do related to the photography biz. I carry it with me everywhere! Hopefully all of my brainstorming will turn into something concrete…

  • Jenn & Stephen

Another fun photo shoot yesterday! Jenn and Stephen are just too sweet together. And so funny! They made me laugh the whole time, and they were such great sports about posing for me around various spots in Meadowlark Gardens. And YAY – I’m going to be in Jenn’s wedding next year in Hawaii!

    Here are my favorites:

Congratulations and best wishes to you, Stephen and Jenn! I know you’re going to have a lifelong happy life together and I’m so glad to know both of you.
