I know it’s been a month or two since my last post, but I have a really good one for you to kick off the fall wedding season! Alicia and Nick (super adorable) were married at The Lodges at Gettysburg on one of the most gorgeous days we’ve had this year. There were tons and tons of beautiful details in this wedding (you’re not even going to believe it, but a lot of it is DIY), and we had so much fun shooting them! Alicia is Abby’s sister, of Abby and Brandon, so it was really nice to see their family again and to meet Nick’s family! Let’s get on with the photos, shall we?

I loved all the different floral centerpieces.
The magic table of cookies that just kept getting refilled. Alicia’s mom and aunts baked hundreds and hundreds of cookies for the wedding! I can’t even imagine how much work that was. I can, however, attest to how delicious they were. Everyone kept insisting that Chris and I take cookies home, so we certainly did. (My arm doesn’t have to be twisted that far when it comes to cookies.) It made the ride home so fun and yummy!
I always always love Chris’s captures of the first dance, and I especially love this one! And you can get a good look at the back of Alicia’s pretty up-do.
This was one of our favorite parts of the evening – the bridal dance (or “Redovy”) tradition. All the guests at the reception line up for a last chance to dance with the bride. It is customary to donate money to the newly wed couple for the privilege of the dance. The money is put into an apron, basket, plate, or decorated box before dancing with the bride. The starosta (master of ceremonies) keeps the line moving, allowing only a few turns before cutting in for the next guest’s chance to dance and share with the bride their good wishes before she and the groom begin their new life. After each guest dances with the bride, they may receive a drink and a piece of the freshly cut wedding cake or pastry.

Alicia and Nick brought small chalkboard signs for their guests. This “We heart Gma” sign is the cutest!
