  • Daisy & David – Engaged!

Daisy and David are the newest addition to my collection of cute couples, and I think know you’ll agree! They were incredibly sweet together and so much fun to photograph. We had a beautiful day at Meadowlark Gardens:

I’m so glad to see the fall colors stick around a while this year!

    Seriously seriously adorable…

Daisy, I’m jealous of your hair (I bet you probably get that a lot). You’re gorgeous!

Daisy and David, it was so nice to meet both of you! It was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with you, walking and chatting and shooting. Enjoy this time together (the engagement goes by so quickly!) and have fun with wedding planning!

  • Lindsey & Brian – Engaged!

Meet Lindsey and Brian, one of my super adorable 2012 couples! We met up at College Park this past Sunday for their engagement session. Originally we had scheduled for Saturday, but it decided to snow in the middle of fall. Sunday turned out to be gorgeous, so all was well! Lindsey and Brian met at the University of Maryland, so it was the perfect spot for their session.

Francis Scott Key Lecture Hall never saw such cuteness before…

This was my first time visiting the campus, and it was gorgeous!

We visited the exact classroom where “Lindsey + Brian” began. It all started with a group project where they were assigned to work together. Fate!

Maryland tradition of rubbing Testudo’s nose for good luck!

Lindsey and Brian, I had so much fun getting to know both of you, and thank you for the campus tour! I’m really looking forward to your wedding next year. See you in October 2012!

  • Lindsay & Mike – 10.23.11

As someone who loves all things fall-related, Lindsay and Mike’s wedding at The Comus Inn yesterday was definitely a treat for me to photograph! And I do mean I love every bit of it – the colors, the crispness in the air, the pumpkins. Add to that a really fun couple with sweet friends and family, and I’m a happy photographer. The drive to Dickerson, Maryland was amazing, and so was the wedding! A few favorite images:

Lindsay finished getting ready at the Inn.

Lindsay, I was so excited to see you yesterday – I knew you’d make such a gorgeous bride!

    And Mike brought the handsome:

It couldn’t have been a nicer day.

But just in case it got to be a little chilly, Lindsay and Mike were so thoughtful to bring wraps for their guests!

Check out Chris’s ninja-quick photography skills! You can spot the ring falling after it slipped out of Mike’s hands. Side note to Mike: no worries! This happens ALL the time – it’s just not that often that the ring is caught on camera mid-air so I had to post it. 😉

See? All is well, and Lindsay and Mike are married!

    Squeeeeeeze in!

Super cute little market right across the street? Yes, please! Thank you, Comus Market, for allowing us to take a few photos!

    Love:

And THIS is actually my absolute favorite picture of the day. I love it when we can take a photo and say, “That is so <bride and groom>.” Chris caught this one, and I love it to pieces because it is so Lindsay and Mike. Mike is really hilarious and he makes Lindsay laugh, and what’s better than that for a wonderful lifetime together?!

Beautiful tented reception with those amazing fall colors that I love:

    Another really thoughtful touch!

I love a good, heartfelt toast with a touch of embarrassing.

    So sweet!

Can you believe the details on this cake?! If I’m not mistaken, those leaves and flowers are all made of sugar. (Not sure of the technical term – is it gumpaste sugar flowers?)

    The sprinkler. Classic.

Just one more pumpkin shot, okay?

Lindsay and Mike, yesterday was amazing! Just perfect. Chris and I were so honored to photograph your wedding day, and we wish you a lifetime of love and laughter together. Have a wonderful time on your trip!

  • Debbie & Adam – 10.08.11

I read a lot of wedding blog posts because I do have several friends in the wedding industry that I like to keep up with, and we all quite often say the same thing: “I have the BEST clients.” But it’s really true, I do! Chris and I are so fortunate to meet such wonderful couples, and to be brought into the folds of their lives for such a special occasion. When I stop and think about the impact of what we do, it sort of blows me away. Debbie and Adam were no exception when it comes to amazing clients. They are two of the sweetest people, and it was an absolute joy to witness their wedding and the celebration.

I started out the day by joining Debbie and her bridesmaids at the Marriott at Fair Oaks where they were getting ready.

The Bride To Be before the dress (cute tank top!) and right after.

Lots of smiles while getting dressed. No nerves here! Or at least they were happy nerves. 😉

I’m still speechless! Debbie, I’m sure every single person told you so on Saturday, but I’m going to say it one more time: you’re stunning.

    Meanwhile…

Just minutes before we left for the church (P.S. Debbie, I love your laugh!):

Note: due to a minor snag, we were unable to take this car to the ceremony, but it still made for a great photo op, right?

I LOVE this photo that Chris took right before Debbie and her father walked down the aisle.

    St. Timothy in Chantilly, Virginia.

    Mr. & Mrs.!

    Post-ceremony portraits:

One of my most favorite groomsmen shots, ever. I’m also just really happy that they didn’t fall in the creek.

    Just so lovely!

A couple that has a well-planned wedding day schedule has time for a quick visit to Starbucks before the reception! And since the coffeehouse was an important part of Debbie and Adam’s dating history (with multiple visits per weekend in the early days of dating), obviously we had to take a photo or two.

Cutest couple in line at a Starbucks, ever.

And then it was back to the Marriott at Fair Oaks for the reception!

I can almost smell these tasty cupcakes courtesy of Georgetown Cupcakes just by looking at the photo.

I adore both of these first dance photos that Chris took. ADORE.

The Beltway Rockers, keeping the dance floor busy:

And we brought the facebooth, which clearly gets a thumbs-up!

“You must be *this* tall to use the facebooth…”

Cute prop, courtesy of Debbie and Adam.

And I’ll wrap it up with a delicious ring shot! (Full disclosure: we totally ate these after the shot. The cupcakes, not the rings.)

Debbie and Adam, you are both so sweet and it has been such a pleasure working with you and getting to know you. Thank you for sharing your day with us – Chris and I had a blast on Saturday, and we wish you all the best! Congratulations!

  • Grace is 1!

Yesterday it was so fun for me to see Heather and Dan again to help celebrate their baby girl’s first birthday! Grace’s sweet pink and yellow party was monkey-themed, including adorable touches like monkeys-in-a-barrel, banana chips, and Curious George.

    Look at that spread!

Sweet baby Grace checking out the party goodies.

Don’t worry, no one had to go through the trouble of sorting out all of the banana Runts – you can buy just bananas in bulk!

Aren’t these pretzel candies so cute?! You wish you could try one, don’t you? (They were delicious.) Sorry to tease like that!

The detail on these cookies was amazing!

“Water for thirsty monkeys!” Too cute.

I think the balloons were Grace’s favorite part of the party.

Dan’s mom and Heather’s mom, reading Curious George with Grace. So sweet.

Time to open presents! I LOVE her expression here. She was busy playing with her new Leap Frog laptop, and this little monster puppet snuck up on her!

This is the puppet, so I totally understand your reaction, Grace.

Aw, a sweet and soft monkey. That’s more like it!

“Are ALL of these presents mine?”

I need to verify, but I think I heard that one of Heather’s friends made this cake?! Sometimes I get so into photographing the details and moments that I miss some of the stories behind the scenes. In any case, this cake is beautiful! Hats off to the baker/decorator.

Grace was such a lady! She preferred to scoop a dainty bit of icing with a stick rather than dive into the cake with her hands. She’s a classy baby!

Heather and Dan wanted some fun pictures of the guests for Grace to enjoy one day, so I also brought along the facebooth and some cute props. It was a hit!

    Heather and her brothers/Grace’s uncles!

Someday I hope this is Grace’s favorite photo of her parents!

Sweet family portrait (taken while balancing a stuffed monkey on my head and holding the camera out in front of me/not looking through the viewfinder).

Heather and Dan – it was so fun to see you and your families again, and it was absolutely wonderful to meet Grace! She is amazing, and I loved celebrating with her. More photos will be online for you soon! Hope you have a great trip back home. 🙂
