  • It’s Almost Here

You’ll have to forgive me, but I’m getting just a little bit giddy about the pending season change. My absolute favorite time of the year is fall – I absolutely love everything about it. I love wearing cozy sweaters and jeans and having the excuse to be a homebody. I love that Chris gets so excited about football season, and I enjoy curling up in the living room with him (although I’m much more likely to read a magazine while he watches the game). I love soups, stews, chili and other warm comfort food, and I’m excited to practice some fall recipes soon. Oh and let’s not forget “falling back” – who doesn’t want an extra hour of sleep?! I know, I know, the time change means shorter days, but that one extra bonus hour on a weekend is just something I’ve always looked forward to.

And on top of all of that, Virginia totally spoils us with the breathtaking display of colorful fall foliage. It’s almost here.

  • Kim & Blaise – 08.15.09

One of my last true summer weddings this year was of Kim and Blaise at Indigo Landing in Alexandria. It was the perfect spot for a warm and breezy summer evening! The event was intimate and focused on friends and family. Their ceremony was held on the patio overlooking the Potomac, and dinner was spread out between the patio and a beautiful sun room with a view.

Kim and Blaise were both a teeeeeeny bit camera shy, but I did steal them for about two minutes for a quick portrait (or two) by the marina. I couldn’t help it! They looked amazing, and I think everyone should have a nice portrait from their wedding day. I keep meaning to find out who did Kim’s hair. Her up-do was gorgeous, and it stayed perfect the whole night despite the humidity!

The sunset over the river was showing off some really fabulous colors – perfect timing for the first dance!

Best wishes and congratulations Kim and Blaise!

  • Love These Faces!

I’m sorting through and editing the images from this family session, and I just came across this one that just cracked me up. I had asked the gang for their best funny faces and here’s what we came up with:

  • Random Hello

I don’t have a point in mind for this post – I just thought I’d say a quick hello without a specific topic in mind. Can you even believe it’s almost the end of August?! Where did the summer go? I think I’m ready to move onto cooler weather though. After a warm and humid day yesterday, I’m planning to spend the day indoors. Editing photos, shopping for groceries for the week, trying a few new recipes (tonight’s menu: peppercorn-crusted flank steak; asiago, potato, and bacon gratin; grilled asparagus) and maybe resting a little because I’m still kind of tired from yesterday’s wedding with Kate. And here’s a random image from yesterday, taken while I was hanging out waiting for the groom to shower after his nap. We ran out of time for taking pictures, or else I would have put each of the guys in front of different doors on a few floors, sort of to look like the opening credits to the Brady Bunch. Wouldn’t that have been fun? Have a good Sunday!

  • Round 2: Extended Family Edition!

If you have perused my blog or website over the past year, you might recognize this family from the last time I photographed them. We met up this weekend with their extended family for a big group portrait session. With five boys and one baby girl, you might expect a certain amount of chaos and I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect for an orderly portrait, but we totally got it done! Easy breezy. These kids have a ton of energy, but they’re so good and sweet, and it was fun to see how they’ve grown. So here are just a few of my favorites from the session, starting with the whole gang:

And just a few fun individual shots (I have one of each of the boys hanging from this rope ladder):

    Tree climbing!

This is one of my favorite shots of the day. So much sweetness here!

Bianca, the family’s au pair, was such a huge help with getting everyone rounded up for the photos and with making faces behind my back to get this sweet baby girl to look at me. Thanks a million, Bianca!

Thanks again for hanging out with me, guys! I had a blast (honest!), and it was great to see you again and meet the rest of the family.
