  • Beth & Kevin – 09.06.09

Last weekend I spent a gorgeous Sunday hanging out with Kristen Gardner, helping her to photograph Beth and Kevin’s wedding at Raspberry Plain in Leesburg. The day was perfect in all kinds of ways, and I had a blast second-shooting. Kristen has some amazing images on her blog and I couldn’t seem to pick a favorite, but I really love her ceremony shots. The garden at Raspberry Plain has this beautiful hedge archway, and Kristen managed to sneak around back to capture a really stunning through-the-archway shot of the vows. I was at the end of the aisle, squatting trying to get out of the way, and I was super relieved to see I’m not in the shot because it’s a great photo! So definitely go have a peek, and I’ll show you a handful of my own random favorites:

Beth and Kevin chose to see each other before the ceremony, so we had tons of time to take portraits of just the two of them. Lots more on Kristen’s blog!

Love this sweet moment between Beth and her dad, just before the walk down the aisle:

The ring bearer was too cute – he stole the show for a minute here.

The reception was so festive with twinkle lights and pretty details:

And then the party started! This next series cracks me up. Sing it with me now: “Ain’t no mountain high enough…”

    “Ain’t no valley low enough…”

    “Ain’t no river wiiiiiide enough,”

“To keep me from gettin’ to YOU, babe.”

Kevin’s grandmother also kept me smiling throughout the whole evening – she had so much spunk on the dance floor!

  • Kim & Blaise – 08.15.09

One of my last true summer weddings this year was of Kim and Blaise at Indigo Landing in Alexandria. It was the perfect spot for a warm and breezy summer evening! The event was intimate and focused on friends and family. Their ceremony was held on the patio overlooking the Potomac, and dinner was spread out between the patio and a beautiful sun room with a view.

Kim and Blaise were both a teeeeeeny bit camera shy, but I did steal them for about two minutes for a quick portrait (or two) by the marina. I couldn’t help it! They looked amazing, and I think everyone should have a nice portrait from their wedding day. I keep meaning to find out who did Kim’s hair. Her up-do was gorgeous, and it stayed perfect the whole night despite the humidity!

The sunset over the river was showing off some really fabulous colors – perfect timing for the first dance!

Best wishes and congratulations Kim and Blaise!

  • Anne & John – 08.09.09

I’m swimming in a sea of album designing right now, so I’m going to make this the least wordiest blog post ever. I had the utmost pleasure of second-shooting for Kristen Gardner last weekend and I wanted to post a few images from Anne and John’s beautiful wedding at Airlie Center. I implore you (SAT word alert!) to go get the full story over at Kristen’s blog. Her images are just absolutely stunning! A few of my own favorites from the day:

Best wishes and congratulations Anne and John! And thank you, Kristen, for having me along – I totally adore working with you!

  • Abby & Steve – 07.03.09

Chris and I enjoyed celebrating our nation’s birthday this weekend with Abby and Steve’s patriotic wedding. The weather cooperated, and it was surprisingly comfortable for July. (I think I have a habit of giving you a wedding-day weather report, but it really does set the scene sometimes.) Without further ado, here are a few of my favorites!

I started out by taking a few pictures of Abby getting ready with her girls at Abby’s house. Isn’t she gorgeous?

Take a closer look at her bouquet and you’ll see her dad’s dog tags:

And this is how the guys spent their time at the church before the ceremony:

The ceremony was held at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Chris captured this moment during communion:

First kiss as Mr. & Mrs.!

Are you kidding me with this cuteness?! So happy and in love they can’t take their eyes off each other. Love it!

We had fun shooting the sword arch exit…

And then when we were going back inside for family photos, I grabbed this quick shot with the fun dramatic sky:

The reception was at Bristow Manor in the tent outside, which was all lit up inside with twinkle lights:

But before the reception, we took some time to do some portraits.

    Sorry girls…Steve’s taken!

My view of the first dance:

And Chris’s view (love this one!):

And then everyone was out on the dance floor!

Even Grandma had to show off some moves…

I love the body language here. Abby’s all, “Yeah, that’s right…I’m your beautiful wife. Now kiss me!”

No full-on cake smooshing for these two, but Chris caught this one of Steve giving Abby just a little dab of icing on the nose.

    And the sparkler exit!

Congratulations and best wishes, Steve and Abby! Chris and I enjoyed celebrating with you, and had a great time photographing your day! Hope you’re having a fabulous time on your honeymoon.

  • Abby & Steve – Sneak Peek!

Just two quick images from Abby and Steve’s wedding last night – more on the way! Happy Fourth to everyone! Aren’t the sparklers so fitting?!
