  • Shanon & Peter – 05.02.09

On Saturday I joined one of my favorite photographers, Amy Martin, to photograph the will-the-rain-hold-off wedding of Shanon and Peter in Stafford, VA. And luckily, the rain did hold off and we had a great day! We started off at Shanon’s house for a few photos of the last getting-ready moments…

…and then we were off to the church!

Shanon’s daughter Chelsea was the maid of honor – how cute is she?!

The reception was held at the beautiful Potomac Point Winery in Stafford:

The flower arrangements in the ballroom were just exquisite:

I thought this was kind of neat – Shanon and Peter chose to use a coffee table book for their guestbook:

We spent some time on the grounds doing a few romantic portraits:

And then we came back to the winery for some group photos.

Okay, and one more fun one of just Peter and Shanon…

Laura, the event coordinator at Potomac Point, did such an amazing job of setting up this next shot of Shanon and Peter stomping grapes in front of all of their guests!

Chelsea gave one of THE best toasts I’ve ever heard. She was so cute and eloquent!

Congratulations and best wishes, Shanon and Peter! And Amy, it was so great to see you!

  • Jennifer & Dennis – 03.21.09

On the first official weekend of spring, I had the privilege of joining Marlene Hawthrone of Obsidian Eye Photographyfor a fun and beautiful wedding in Warrenton, VA. I started out the day by hanging out with the guys before the ceremony.

I asked Dennis to stand by the window for a minute where the light was nice, but doesn’t it really just look like he’s searching out the window for his bride?

The best moment before the wedding was when the best man gave Dennis a really touching gift from Jen. I’m willing to bet there wasn’t a dry eye in the room (including me):

    The beautiful Warrenton Baptist Church:

The church had this great rounded staircase leading out into the light of the front doors, and I caught this quick image of their exit after the ceremony.

I know I didn’t quite nail the focus in this next one, but I still like it!

I’m just a little jealous of Jen’s flawless skin and perfect smile!

Marlene did some scouting before the wedding and found some beautiful colors and textures around Warrenton. This peachy wall was one of our faves:

Jen’s “something blue” was found in her bouquet and at the candy bar for the guests (I’ve never tried rock candy but it looks yummy!):

    The father-daughter dance:

And speaking of dancing, this crowd could DANCE. Including the flower girl…she had some moves!

I love how happy they are!

  • Shoe Fetish

I met with a really fabulous bride-to-be today, and we got to talking about wedding details and our favorite images. We both agreed that shoes are so fun to have pictures of, and I thought I’d pull together a quick collection of some of last year’s shoe shots. Because really, who doesn’t love shoes?

  • Coffee Table Albums

Hopefully you’re not tired of seeing books/albums on my dining room table yet, because I have one more to show you for now: the coffee table book! I just received a brand-new sample, and I just wanted to take a few quick pictures of it. This modern album is a beautiful, lightweight alternative to a heavier traditional wedding album. The book is stored nestled inside of this keepsake presentation box with a wrap-around photo cover:

The timeless cover is available in either natural leather (in black, brown, bordeaux and saddle) or in animal-friendly faux “leather” (in black, brown, bordeaux and camel). Text embossing is available on the cover in a classic font with hot stamping.

The pages are approximately 100lb weight paper and are pritned using archival inks. The paper has a varnish coating for added protection.

And a few details – the vellum page in the front, the binding, and the thickness of the pages.

  • Allison & Chris – 02.14.09

I’m preparing to take a little trip tomorrow and I’m short on time again, so I hope you’ll be happy with just seeing a few of my random favorites from the wedding I shot with Kristen Gardner this past weekend. Before I post the pictures, let me encourage you to hop over to Kristen’s blog for the complete story – her pictures are beautiful!

We started off at the Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Nokesville where Allison and Chris chose to see each other before the ceremony to ensure plenty of time for pictures!

I borrowed this heart-shaped “wreath” that hung from the church door for the ring shot below:

Allison’s bouquet was so pretty! I adore hydrangeas:

I spy, with my little fisheye…

This image was taken after the ceremony and after all of the family portraits, but I just wanted to showcase how absolutely adorable this little church is.

Their reception took place at Regency at Dominion Valley in Haymarket.

    A little cake action:

(Okay, I really need to go do laundry and get some packing done!) Best wishes and congratulations to Allison and Chris! And Kristen, I know I already said it a hundred times, but I mean it – I had such a great time shooting with you on Saturday!
