  • Jennifer & Blaise – 11.01.08

I’m running a little short on time this week, so just a quick post with a few images about a wedding I second-shot for Kate a couple weeks ago. As per usual, I spent a little time with the guys before the ceremony. Blaise is in the middle there, most easily spotted by his infamous curly locks:

Here, the guys are stretching and getting warmed up before the ceremony:

I love two things about this next picture – the look of adoration on Jennifer’s face as she sees Blaise, and the fact that all of the people behind her all looking down at their cameras (a.k.a. “chimping”) to see the images they captured!

    The gorgeous newlyweds:

And as always, some lovely reception details:

Best wishes and congratulations to Jen and Blaise! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.

  • Jessica & Borin – 10.11.08

Somehow I managed to get my wedding blog posts a little out of order, as this one that I second-shot for Jess was weeks ago! Nevertheless, it was quite memorable. We had one of the best fall days, which went perfectly with Jessica and Borin’s fall theme. More on the details in a minute, but first a couple of fun shots of Borin (on the left) and his best man since I was the one to hang out with the guys that day.

The light during the ceremony was beautiful – we had a clear sky with low sun that just gave the ceremony a golden glow.

I didn’t get to see Jessica until she walked down the aisle, but she looked amazing (love that veil!):

I snuck inside the clubhouse to get around to the other side for a different view, and this was my view on the way:

The Catoctin Hall ballroom at Musket Ridge Golf Club was perfectly decorated in warm, rich fall hues.

I loved these little jewels dangling from the centerpieces!

The gorgeous fall day made way into a gorgeous fall night, and then the party really got started!

    The first dance.

The dance floor had more of a dance club vibe to it. The song selection was so much fun – high-energy, and kept everyone moving. And how fun are these colored lights?!

Instead of a traditional cake, Jessica and Borin had towers of Krispy Kreme donuts that smelled amazing. It makes me want a donut right now…

Borin getting carried away with his dance moves…

And Borin getting carried away, literally.

Best wishes and congratulations to Jessica and Borin! I can just tell by the amazing time that everyone had celebrating that these two are going to have a fun, happy life together. Thanks for having me along, Jess! You know I love shooting with you.

  • Lacy & Jessie – 10.05.08

This wedding that I second-shot for Kate a few weekends ago made me forget sometimes that I was actually at a wedding. At the reception I honestly felt like I was on the set of a high-energy dance movie or watching a fun musical instead! On the dance floor, Lacy and Jessie and their guests were the most talented and entertaining bunch I’ve seen so far. (A lot of them were in show choir together.) First I’ll start with photos of the beautiful ceremony though, and this fabulous dress and bouquet. I spotted this window at the end of the hall in the church and loved the light and shadows, and was hoping it would be just high enough to hang the dress. Kate and I confirmed…it was!

It was my pleasure to get to hang out with the guys that day – they were so fun to shoot.

Just so there’s no confusion as to their true personalities, they high-fived at the end of the ceremony. It’s so them.

The details at the reception were just really elegant and classy.

Lacy’s dad had everyone cracking up during his toast.

I love the oh-no-he-didn’t look on Lacy’s face here.

I am so totally fascinated by people with amazing dance skills (one of my favorite shows is So You Think You Can Dance), so I absolutely loved watching Jessie and the guys do an entire routine to N’Sync’s It’s Gonna Be Me. And if I’m not mistaken, it was most of or even all of the original choreography from the video.

Everyone showed off their own best moves.

Best dive for the bouquet, ever.

Lacy and Jessie – best wishes for a long life of happiness together! I’m so glad I was able to celebrate with you and help Kate capture the day.

  • Tracey & Maurice – 10.18.08

To say that I love fall is a complete understatement, and to say that Tracey and Maurice’s wedding yesterday was beautiful on such a perfect fall day would also be a huge understatement. It was a cool, crisp day typical of fall in Northern Virginia, but the warmth among Tracey and Maurice’s friends and family filled the air. It was a team effort to bring together the fall-themed day; friends and family lovingly helped out with the creation and set-up of the decorations. But I have to give special mention to Becky Wortman for filling the Day-Of Coordinator role. She did such a great job of ensuring that things ran smoothly and effortlessly, and I really appreciated her cheerful easy-going demeanor!

I have so many favorite images from this day, but I’ve managed to narrow it down to a few dozen for this post! Chris and I were scheduled to arrive at the Hendry House at Fort C. F. Smith Park in Arlington just as Tracey’s girls were helping her with her dress and the final details.

Her dress had such amazing intricate details.

    Tracey, you look absolutely gorgeous.

    Tracey and her girls.

    The dashing groom, Maurice…

And the guys…(love this one that Chris got from his angle):

The ceremony took place out on the lawn. Maurice sees Tracey for the first time…

And Tracey sees Maurice for the first time.

    Mini-paparazzi!

Tracey and Maurice chose a clear-top (heated!) tent for their reception dinner, which was such a nice touch for their location. The guests were able to enjoy the view of the park, the trees with autumn-colored leaves, and eventually the starry-sky into the evening.

Some additional fall-inspired details of the day. Note that there’s a lottery ticket inside the “Lucky in Love” cards!

Their first dance was a beautifully executed waltz that impressed the crowd.

    Love this one!

Tracey and Maurice, Chris and I wish all the joy and happiness in the world to you both. Thank you for sharing your day with us!

  • Jennifer & Stephen – 09.25.08

    Jennifer & Stephen – 09.25.08

As some of you may know, Chris and I were away this week with the honor of photographing one of my dearest friend’s wedding in Oahu, Hawaii! We returned safely this morning, and we’re a little jet-lagged but I just couldn’t wait to get a few photos on the blog for Jenn and Stephen.

Gosh, what do I even say about Jenn and Stephen? I’ve known Jenn for about ten years now and I just adore her. And as one of Jenn’s matrons-of-honor, Rosa, said in her toast to the bride and groom, “Jenn has had her share of frogs.” But she has certainly found her prince in Stephen, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them.

So Jenn and Stephen planned an intimate celebration week for friends and family on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Chris and I arrived on Saturday evening to get ready for the big week. On Monday, Jenn set aside some time to do a makeup and hair trial, and we took the opportunity to take some pictures of course. I think she looks positively stunning here, but wait until you see her on the wedding day!

A few of her day-of details like the dress, shoes, and flowers. I wish you could smell these plumerias, because they were so fragrant and heavenly. Sadie of Picket Fence Florist provided Jenn and Stephen with the amazing bouquets and leis for all of the family members and guests!

I know in this next photo it looks like Jenn is doing all the work, but her fabulous hair and makeup are courtesy of her Aunt Susie who has her own salon on Oahu. Susie also did Jenn’s trial hair and makeup earlier in the week. She also did the hair and makeup of the entire bridal party, mother-of-the-bride and grandmother-of-the-bride. How she did all of that this week so quickly and so expertly without showing a hint of stress or fatigue is beyond me!

The ceremony was held in the Maile Garden at the Hale Koa – lush, cozy, private, and simply beautiful.

This super sweet and adorable flower girl is Jenn’s niece!

We had to race against the clock right after the ceremony because we were rapidly losing light, but we managed to get a few portraits of the happy couple and of the families.

Jenn and Stephen’s dinner reception was also at the Hale Koa, and it included tons of creative DIY touches.

I especially liked the part of Tracy’s (sister/matron-of-honor) speech where she referenced my favorite show, Friends, and how Jenn has “found her lobster.”

Jenn and Stephen, it was our honor and pleasure to celebrate with you in Hawaii this week and to capture your wedding memories for you. Chris and I had a great time, and I’m just in awe of your grace as host and hostess amidst all of the wedding planning. I know it’s a tough job to plan a wedding, much less a destination wedding, and coordinating everyone’s travel and leisure on top of that. You both did a fabulous job and everything was beautiful and without a hitch. Well, except you two getting hitched! (Get it?) Congratulations and best wishes! I love you guys!
