  • Kate & Jeff – 08.13.08

Two Saturdays ago I spent the day second-shooting for Jill Myers at Kate and Jeff’s wedding. I’m crazy short on time this week, so I’m also going to be short on words, but hopefully the photos will speak for themselves a little bit. I’ll even let this next photo give you a hint as to where the wedding was:

The ceremony included stories about how Jeff and Kate first met.

Kate’s mom reaching out to Kate’s grandmother.

    A teary-eyed flowergirl?

    Lovely reception details:

  • Ann & Shawn – 09.07.08

Amy and I were like giddly little kids in a candy store over the details at the wedding we photographed together earlier this month. The bride, Ann, put a lot of thought into her colors and the personalization of the day. Not to mention she was so fun to be around. We hung out with her as she was getting ready, and she had us all giggling:

I’m just totally and completely over-the-moon about her shoes:

    And her dress!

Ann and Shawn were blessed with an exceptionally amazing day weather-wise at Whitehall Manor in Middleburg, especially considering the monsoon-like downpour we received just the day before. The ground was a little soggy, but nothing a runner couldn’t take care of.

We took some time after the ceremony to get some fun group shots…

And also some quiet-moment portraits of Shawn and Ann together.

This next one is a favorite of mine!

Here are those details we were swooning over – swooning, I tell you. Such a fun bright color like orange just pops in photos. Oh and in case you’re curious, the ketchup bottle has the cutest little note on it that explains how they discovered a mutual love for ketchup on their first date and how they grew to have a great mutual love for each other. Adorable!

A sweet first dance, to “All I Need” by Radiohead (my husband’s all-time favorite band!):

The trio that played during dinner let this little guy try out his drum skills just before they packed up. The kid could keep a beat!

Okay, I can’t help it…let’s see the shoes one more time.

  • Seda & Bryant – 08.30.08

The last Saturday evening in August, I met up with Kate Triano at the luxurious Omni Shoreham in DC to help her out with Seda and Bryant’s wedding. Kate’s images, amazing as always, are up on her blog so go check it out! It was a warm summery day (read: humid and not so great for my hair), but Seda was cool as a cucumber, calm and collected. Not to mention she looked fab the whole day – not a hair out of place.

After meeting Seda in her room, I hung out with Bryant and the guys down the hall in their room for a little while just before the ceremony.

I didn’t get a chance to see exactly what was showing up on the LCD of this camera, but it must’ve been good.

If you haven’t visited the Omni Shoreham, or you’re looking for a swank place to stay during your next trip to the DC area, definitely take a look! The hotel is stunning, and the staff was just super friendly. And the grounds? Immaculate! Check out the ceremony location where Seda and Bryant exchanged their vows:

Bryant’s expression as he sees Seda’s entrance was so sweet!

This happened about half-way through the ceremony and it made me giggle:

    Awww.

The lobby of the Omni Shoreham was a beautiful spot for portraits.

A few details from the whole day:

    Hello, mood lighting!

Attn: photographers, do you recognize a fellow photog in this next one? That’s California’s super adorable Tiffany Fosnight of Adeline and Grace Photography catching the bouquet!

Kate, I had a fantastic time with you again, Tiffany it was so good to meet you (you’re too cute!) and best wishes to both Seda and Bryant!

  • Lauren & Chip – 08.16.08

As I mentioned, I had the great fortune of working with Kate Triano last weekend. She is an absolute sweetheart, and made the day more fun than work. And her images from this wedding are killer to boot, so go take a look! We were blessed with an unusual day weather-wise because it wasn’t hearly as hot or as humid as is characteristic of mid-August in this area. As for the couple, Lauren and Chip are the kind of people who have that amazing knack for making everyone around them feel instantly comfortable and like old friends. They were the most gracious hosts and took obvious care in ensuring that their guests had a spectacular time. Maybe I shouldn’t be so shocked by this, but even after the hustle and bustle and emotions of the day, and even though she and I didn’t spend a lot of time together, Lauren still remembered my name at the end of the night. Me, the second-shooter. I was really impressed and warmed over by the pair of them. I’ll stop babbling and get on to the visuals, which speak for themselves.

It was my privilege to hang out with the guys for a bit before the ceremony. We headed across the street to the Market Square in front of Alexandria City Hall for a couple of shots.

As soon as the shades went on, Ben’s personality came right out and the rest of the guys followed suit.

A calm portrait just before we headed over to the Old Town Presbyterian Meeting House for the ceremony:

I love Chip’s expression just before Lauren walks down the aisle, and then just before the kiss!

All smiles just after the ceremony:

A few fun reception details at the swanky Hotel Monaco on King Street:

Check out the paparazzi during the cake cutting!

    Ben’s signature move:

You know you make me wanna (shout)…throw my hands up and (shout)…

And that last photo just about sums up everyone’s spirits for the day – it was such a feel-good event, and I’m honored to have been a small part of it. Thanks Kate for inviting me along, and best wishes to both Lauren and Chip!
