  • 101 in 1001 Begins!

Today is the official start of tackling my 101 in 1001 list, and I’ve just fulfilled #8: Buy a super wide-angle lens! (Technically I purchased it a couple of days ago, but I’m documenting it today as my first accomplishment.) To document this item on the list, here’s an image I took with the new lens right after I bought it:

Edit: My friend Jenn just sent me the funniest email jokingly saying she didn’t know they sold lenses at the grocery store. I laughed out loud, realizing my original post did look funny. So, I just want to clarify, I didn’t buy the lens AT the grocery store. I stopped there after I bought the lens at Ace Photo, where I purchase all of my gear when I don’t feel like waiting for shipping (impulse buys).

  • Her Majesty’s Album

Okay, I consider myself to be rather computer-savvy usually, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why I can’t embed this slideshow into my blog. But I wanted to post the album layout (in slideshow format) that I designed for Alyssa’s princess party, so I’ll at least post the link. To see the album, click here or click on the image of the cover!

  • The Rockstar Roadtrip

Today I spent the whole day in Crystal City attending the Rockstar Roadtrip workshop with Corey McNabb and Amber Holritz. There was a big turn out and it was great to see lots of familiar faces. I’ve met so many amazing people in the last several months from attending workshops, classes and meetings. I meant to take a couple of pictures, but I was just wrapped up in the presentation. The workshop was full of really useful information. And I was so touched by the amazing images that Corey and Amber have produced for their wedding and portrait clients; I felt totally inspired. There were a few images that got me a little choked up, so I can only imagine what their clients must have felt when they first saw them. This is exactly the response that I’m striving for with my own imagery. After today, I have some new ideas for my business, and I’m really excited to get started on a few new projects. You’ll have to stay tuned to see what’s in store!

  • The List

Whew! My final 101 in 1001 list is complete.

I was originally going to separate the items into categories, but I like the impact of such a long list all in one spot so I settled on just alphebetizing the whole thing. I’ll get started on actually doing these 101 things next week. The official start date is Friday, April 4th!

  • Green & Going Green

Project 10/List 2 – Image 6 is green in two ways:

Obviously the feast! label is green in color, but this image also represents one of my very small efforts to “go green.” I’m not as good at recycling as I’d like to be, but I’m pretty good at reusing when I can. I reuse these size shopping bags every day to take my lunch to the office, and I use it until it’s falling apart. I’ve been toting this one for over a month now. (I know I could buy a reusable lunch bag, but if I shop and they’re going to give me a bag, I might as well just use that.) Fyi: my favorite bags of this size are at Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.
