  • Rachel & Aaron – Engaged

You’ll get to see more of/hear more about Rachel and Aaron very soon because they are getting married in just a few weeks! Chris and I will be photographing their wedding at the beautiful Rust Manor in Leesburg, but first we met up in Old Town Alexandria for a few engagement pictures. It was super windy and quite a bit chilly, which is odd for this time of year, but we had really warm golden sunlight the whole time. (Please see Exhibit A: pictures by the river, below for examples of that yummy light!) Here are my favorites from the session!

By the way, these next three are my favorites. I love that it looks like Rachel and Aaron have the whole park to themselves, when really there were quite a few people around us. Rachel & Aaron – I’ll see you in a few weeks! I’m so glad we were able to meet up before your wedding even though I know you both have crazy schedules.  🙂  Thank you for hanging out with me and for being great sports with the windy day we had!

  • Sandy & Matt – Engaged

Sandy and Matt had one of their first dates in the quaint little town of Occoquan (aw!), so we met there last night for some engagement photos. I had never been to Occoquan before and I instantly realized it was such a perfect spot for pictures. The town is so cute, and Sandy and Matt were even cuter! Seriously, they were just super sweet together in front of the camera. Yaaay for a great location + beautiful weather/light + a fun, adorable couple! It happens to be past my bedtime as I’m writing this post, so instead of words I’ll just let you see for yourselves with a peek at a few of my favorite images:
Sandy and Matt – I had so much fun wandering around Occoquan and chatting with/photographing you both! I am so excited about your wedding this summer – I know it’s going to be amazing. See you then!

  • iThis and iThat

Well, I did it – I finally switched to an iPhone! I have been using a BlackBerry Pearl for the last several years AND an iPod Touch, and it just made sense to me to combine the functionality of the two. I love gadgets in general, and this one does not disappoint with all of its handy little features. The camera alone is an improvement over my old Pearl, and I’ll definitely be using it more frequently.

I normally wouldn’t announce this on my blog as it’s hardly news (and I’m also a teeny bit paranoid about putting certain information “out there” – you know, because that one criminal is reading MY blog and taking notes about my purchases and my daily schedule so they can mug me), this purchase unexpectedly completes item #4 on my 101 in 1001 list: Buy a new address book and update it. So I’m mentioning it here and taking a photo for 101 in 1001 documentation purposes. I have put all of my contact information in Outlook on my computer, which synchronizes with my iPhone, so while it’s not an address book per se, it’s certainly functioning as one among other things. Yay for a multi-tasking gadget!

  • Kara & Greg – Engaged

Kara and Greg met with me the other day to take a few engagement photos around DC and let me just tell you, they are just so cute together! They made each other laugh and smile the whole time. To start with, we hung out in and around the Jefferson Memorial. I’m happy that we were able to get a few photos without tons of people in the background (well, okay – I edited a sliver of a person out of this one below) because there were a million tourists out and about.

These next few were taken near the George Mason Memorial which 1.) I had never been to (it’s kind of tucked away), and 2.) I didn’t realize was a memorial of George Mason. Oops! I guess I should have known that since I went to GMU. I love when my photo sessions are fun AND educational. Kara and Greg both play softball in a league together, so we headed over to the fields where they play. I think this one on the pitcher’s mound is my favorite from the day! I love when we’re able to make the photos really personal and meaningful by using special locations. So cute:

    Quintessential DC:

Kara and Greg, thanks so much for wandering around the city with me! I am so excited for your upcoming wedding – I’ll see you in November!

  • Treat Yourself!

I went to the grocery store yesterday just to pick up a few things. Upon entering the store, I was greeted immediately by a hugely tempting Easter candy display. What is it specifically about Easter candy that is so irresistible? I personally have a weakness for Reese’s peanut butter eggs and chocolate bunnies (who doesn’t love biting the ears off?), and for a brief moment I thought about treating myself. But then I also noticed tons of cheerful-colored fresh flowers just on the other side of the candy display, and decided that tulips would make a much nicer treat. What do you do to treat yourself? And when was the last time you did? If it’s been a while, why not treat yourself this weekend?
