  • Air & Space

Chris and I went to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum this afternoon. It’s something we have been meaning to do since it’s so close to home. I have to admit that I’m kind of bad at reading and learning while I’m also taking pictures, so I’m not sure exactly what I was photographing, but it looked cool:

  • Feed the Tree: Check.

Item #20 on my 101 in 1001 list, fertilize the poor tree in our front yard, is done! This tree is so scrawny and has a hard time because it’s in a spot that gets a lot of direct light for long periods of the day (it really dries out in the summers). I’m determined to take good care of the sad little thing this year, and help it to grow big and strong. Chris and I bought some little fertilizer stake things that you drive into the ground in the spring and fall, and we put them in the yard today, so hopefully that’ll do the trick. Grow tree, grow!

  • The Last of the Green

Okay, I’m letting myself off the hook for the Project 10/List 2 “green” images by posting another picture of Charlie as #10. At least it’s a little different (fisheye!):

  • Buy a Plant: Check.

I was driving down Rt. 7 this afternoon and saw this sign, so I figured I’d stop in and see if I could complete #24 on my 101 in 1001 list (not to mention fulfill a few more Project 10/List 2 “green” images):

So that’s Project 10/List 2 – Image 7 (a greenhouse), and here’s Image 8 (just lots and lots of green):

They had tons of gorgeous, colorful plants:

But I decided to opt for something very easy to care for and went with a Peace Lily (Image 9):

It’s cute, right? But I already don’t know where to put it or what to do with it, and I’m scared that I won’t be able to keep it alive. Is it weird to feel so committment-phobic about a plant?!

  • 101 in 1001 Begins!

Today is the official start of tackling my 101 in 1001 list, and I’ve just fulfilled #8: Buy a super wide-angle lens! (Technically I purchased it a couple of days ago, but I’m documenting it today as my first accomplishment.) To document this item on the list, here’s an image I took with the new lens right after I bought it:

Edit: My friend Jenn just sent me the funniest email jokingly saying she didn’t know they sold lenses at the grocery store. I laughed out loud, realizing my original post did look funny. So, I just want to clarify, I didn’t buy the lens AT the grocery store. I stopped there after I bought the lens at Ace Photo, where I purchase all of my gear when I don’t feel like waiting for shipping (impulse buys).
