  • What Is It?

For this Project 10 image, I’ll do a “what is it?” guessing game, but I think most of my photography friends will get it right away, and anyone who isn’t into photography might not care. I’ll post the answer hidden anyway in case anyone wants to play.

Highlight the text here for the answer: It’s an old light meter! A GE PR-2 from the 1950’s to be exact. It was my grandfather’s, and I have it on display in my office with some of his cameras and other photography stuff.

  • Work Hard, Rock Hard

Chris and I didn’t end up going geocaching this weekend. We actually got on a huge organizing kick, and ended up doing some early spring cleaning. We filled about 6 huge trash bags with clothes and household items to donate, and we organized our storage room by putting things into nice bins and labeling everything.

And then last night we went to the Angels and Airwaves concert at the 9:30 Club in DC. The show was amazing! Chris and I got there early enough to have our choice of where to stand. We were originally down on the floor about 5 people deep from the stage, but we ended up snagging a spot upstairs against the balcony. I’m so glad Chris suggested that, because the kids on the floor where we were standing were big into moshing and crowd surfing. It was fun to watch them from above at a safe distance. Tom DeLonge’s energy on stage was infectious, so much so that the guy standing next to me was nearly having a spiritual experience. He was so excited. I’ve never seen someone so into a band before – he moved to every single note, and knew every single word to all of the songs.

No cameras were allowed, but I did take a quick picture with my Blackberry (in the dark, while people were bumping into me, so please don’t hold me accountable for the quality!):

There. I found something in my house I’ve never photographed before.

  • I Wanna Be a Rockstar (And a Geocacher)

I know I just got back from Flourish, but I’ve registered for the Rockstar Roadtrip photography workshop for their March 31st DC stop. I see it as a great opportunity to gain some different perspectives on the business and also to network with other photographers in my area. I’m really looking forward to it! It’s only one day and no travel is involved, so I figured I couldn’t pass it up.

And completely unrelated: Chris and I are going to go geocaching for the first time ever this weekend! From Wikipedia: “Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called geocaches or caches) anywhere in the world.” Check it out if you are a treasure-hunter at heart or if you need an excuse to go outside and get some fresh air. It sounds like it’s a great family-friendly activity! We’re just going to start in Ashburn, and will eventually branch out once we get the hang of it.

    Lastly, here’s Project 10/List 1 – Image 2:

It’s my ribbon organizer. Is it so nerdy that I’ve organized my ribbon?
