  • Jessica & Sam – engaged!

Hello, blog-readers! I hope you had an amazing, delicious Thanksgiving (or just Thursday if you’re not in the U.S.). I am utterly behind on my blog posts – I have several portrait sessions to show you. First up, Jessica and Sam, who spent the afternoon with me in Old Town Alexandria on the Friday after turkey day. And because I’m so behind, I’m going to go light on the words and just get straight to the photos of this gorgeous couple!

Okay, I know I promised more pictures/less words, but first I have to say, I love their story. They technically met when they were all of nine years old (so cute!) because their moms were friends, but they don’t actually remember meeting. I think maybe subconsciously they do remember meeting, because they eventually found their way back to each other and are getting married in the spring in Rhode Island!

Seriously, Jessica, you have such a great smile!

How cute is this idea?! 5.5.12. = wedding date, in case you weren’t sure. 😉

Jessica and Sam, it was so nice meeting both of you! Thanks for spending your afternoon with me. Best wishes and congratulations on your upcoming wedding – I’m so happy for you, and wish you all the best!

  • Debbie & Stephen – Engaged!

This is Debbie and Stephen! Debbie and I go waaaaay back – we know each other from high school (I’ll spare myself from saying how many years ago that was). I couldn’t be happier for her that she has found Stephen and that they’re getting married next year! Yesterday we met up in Old Town Alexandria to take engagement photos on a beautiful crisp fall day.

Okay, this is just too cute:

So sweet. (Side note: Does Debbie have the most perfect skin or what?!)

Debbie and Stephen’s courtship (people should use that word more) frequently took place in Old Town, including this super cute ice cream shop.

Every once in a while during an engagement session, I joke with my couples and say something like, “Okay now I want you to both climb to the top of that tree…” just to see their reactions. (I’m hilarious.) This time the joke was on me when Debbie said, “We should go get in the canoe.” I was all, haha – that’s funny, but they actually did go get in the canoe. They stood in it. And Debbie was wearing heels! That combo would have had me in the water in about a half-second. Hello balance skills!

Debbie and Stephen, it was so fun to hang out with you yesterday! I love the photos and I hope you enjoy them, too. Best of luck with the rest of your wedding planning, and I’ll see you next year for the big day! Say hi to Kip for me. 🙂

  • Daisy & David – Engaged!

Daisy and David are the newest addition to my collection of cute couples, and I think know you’ll agree! They were incredibly sweet together and so much fun to photograph. We had a beautiful day at Meadowlark Gardens:

I’m so glad to see the fall colors stick around a while this year!

    Seriously seriously adorable…

Daisy, I’m jealous of your hair (I bet you probably get that a lot). You’re gorgeous!

Daisy and David, it was so nice to meet both of you! It was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with you, walking and chatting and shooting. Enjoy this time together (the engagement goes by so quickly!) and have fun with wedding planning!

  • Lindsey & Brian – Engaged!

Meet Lindsey and Brian, one of my super adorable 2012 couples! We met up at College Park this past Sunday for their engagement session. Originally we had scheduled for Saturday, but it decided to snow in the middle of fall. Sunday turned out to be gorgeous, so all was well! Lindsey and Brian met at the University of Maryland, so it was the perfect spot for their session.

Francis Scott Key Lecture Hall never saw such cuteness before…

This was my first time visiting the campus, and it was gorgeous!

We visited the exact classroom where “Lindsey + Brian” began. It all started with a group project where they were assigned to work together. Fate!

Maryland tradition of rubbing Testudo’s nose for good luck!

Lindsey and Brian, I had so much fun getting to know both of you, and thank you for the campus tour! I’m really looking forward to your wedding next year. See you in October 2012!

  • Emily & Mat – Engaged!

This is a story of six degrees of separation, or maybe four degrees – I’m not sure how that works exactly. But check it out: my friend Alia introduced me to her friend Sarah. Sarah needed a photographer for an event she was hosting, and asked if I would be available/interested. I did attend the event and took pictures, where I met another photographer, Sandy, who was also shooting for the event. Through the magic of Facebook, she and I kept in touch since then. Fast-forward a few years, and Sandy recommended me to her step-daughter, Emily, for her wedding photos (you know, so Sandy can actually attend and enjoy the event!), and voila, I met Emily and Mat! Stuff like that sort of blows my mind. This job is definitely so cool for making connections with people and places. I love that about it! So now, onto why we’re here – engagement photos of Emily and Mat!

I’m sort of speechless at how photogenic these two are. Seriously.

Wedge heels + cobblestones would normally be a little challenging, but Emily totally worked it out.

Really FUN outfit change! I’m pretty sure everyone we passed wanted to know where they can get this dress:

    Favorite:

    So sweet!

Emily, you totally rocked the dress. Ouma would be proud!

I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding, Emily and Mat! I loved meeting you both and had such a great time photographing you – I know the wedding is going to be amazing!
