  • Kara & Greg – Engaged

Kara and Greg met with me the other day to take a few engagement photos around DC and let me just tell you, they are just so cute together! They made each other laugh and smile the whole time. To start with, we hung out in and around the Jefferson Memorial. I’m happy that we were able to get a few photos without tons of people in the background (well, okay – I edited a sliver of a person out of this one below) because there were a million tourists out and about.

These next few were taken near the George Mason Memorial which 1.) I had never been to (it’s kind of tucked away), and 2.) I didn’t realize was a memorial of George Mason. Oops! I guess I should have known that since I went to GMU. I love when my photo sessions are fun AND educational. Kara and Greg both play softball in a league together, so we headed over to the fields where they play. I think this one on the pitcher’s mound is my favorite from the day! I love when we’re able to make the photos really personal and meaningful by using special locations. So cute:

    Quintessential DC:

Kara and Greg, thanks so much for wandering around the city with me! I am so excited for your upcoming wedding – I’ll see you in November!

  • Alicia & Adrian – Engaged!

I honestly feel so lucky to get to do what I do as a photographer, and when I meet the sweetest, cutest people like Alicia and Adrian, it just reminds me WHY I love it so much! We spent the afternoon yesterday exploring Old Town Alexandria, chatting, and taking some engagement photos. We had a really really beautiful day even if it was a little on the chilly side, especially for these two since they hail from Houston! King Street was alive and buzzing even more than usual (everyone must have been alleviating their cabin fever), but we managed to sneak away on some of the quiet side streets for some really fun spots. And for those of you who know I have a thing for interesting doors and doorways, you know I have a good time wandering Old Town. Okay, enough of my babbling – onto some my favorite the images!

I feel like it’s a tad cliche to say this but they both have the most amazing eyes, seriously. And Alicia, I’m pretty jealous of your hair – it looks totally perfect even though it was windy!

    So incredibly sweet!

I’m pretty sure I squealed when we found this. How cute is that?! It’s like a little heart thought bubble.

The colors around Old Town are amazing and so fun. I love both of these:

Alicia and Adrian – thanks so much for hanging out with me yesterday! You guys are so much fun and I’m really looking forward to your wedding in June, which I can pretty much promise will be much warmer weather for you! 🙂 See you soon!

  • Coelle & Corey – Engaged!

Oh gosh, what can I even say about Coelle and Corey without getting uber sappy? Coelle is a very very dear friend of mine from high school. I moved to Virginia my senior year of high school, and Coelle was the first person on the first day to make me feel welcome at my new school. We clicked immediately and were inseparable from then on. I’m super happy that she and Corey found each other, and the two of them make the cutest pair. I think I sort of demanded that I shoot their wedding (you know, in a nice way) and thus their engagement photos as well, so we met this afternoon for the engagement session!

We started off by walking their dog, Zoey, around their cute little town center.

    Whatcha lookin’ at, Zoey?

Okay, not the best angle on Zoey, but I love the silhouette!

Here’s a better one of Zoey!

Are these two so cute or what?

Okay, one last one of the pup before we dropped her off at home…

Corey is a volunteer firefighter, so we stopped by the station to get a couple of pictures with the engine (Corey knows I love shooting there).

    Um, Coelle? You’re gorgeous!

Corey suggested this beautiful little nook in their neighborhood and we finished up the session there.

What did I tell you?! Goooooorgeous!

    So CUTE, you guys!

Coelle and Corey, I’m so gosh darn happy for you two. You KNOW I can’t wait for your wedding! Eee!

  • Venessa & Mike – Engaged!

Venessa, Mike and I met up at Brookside Gardens yesterday evening to take some engagement photos, and I had a blast with them! I’ve never giggled so much while trying to shoot – Venessa and Mike sang, danced and goofed off all around the park. But as adorably silly as they are, we captured plenty of sweet moments, too. And we managed to get our session done right before the skies opened up in a downpour. Whew!

I’m starting off with one of my very favorites (I always love an “almost-kiss.”) And I LOVE Venessa’s dress! Such fun colors.

Okay, maybe this is my favorite. I can’t decide! I really love their body language in this one:

    Swoon!

Doesn’t Venessa have the best smile?!

    Mike, you’re so goofy:

And then right back to so romantic! Aw.

Venessa and Mike both love playing board games and playing cards (me too!) so they brought a deck along to the park. Mike showed us his skills with a mystifying magic trick!

    Fun ring shot!

    Fun Mike shot!

And we finished up the day with a bit of song and dance just before it started to thunder, so we decided we’d better go.

Venessa and Mike, you are both so much fun. I wish we could have spent more time together yesterday! I seriously cannot wait for your wedding in July!

  • Heather & Dan – Engaged!

I spent a good bit of the morning and afternoon yesterday clicking “refresh” on weather.com to see what Mother Nature had in store for the evening. I had scheduled Heather and Dan’s engagement session for late in the day, and yesterday it just kept getting darker and darker, but weather.com promised that it wouldn’t rain. Lo and behold, we had a nice, unseasonably cool evening to walk around downtown Leesburg. Here are a few of my favorites!

I saw this wall when I was at the courthouse one day (getting copies of my marriage license – I wasn’t in trouble!) and thought it might make a fun image:

I love how you can see that Heather is giving Dan a big smile in this next one even though you can only see just a bit of her face!

You two are so. Darn. Cute.

Dan came up with this next pose all on his own. I just put them in that spot, and he directed!

Would you believe they thought they didn’t know what they were doing in front of the camera? I’m going to call a big “whatever” on that. 😉

See? You guys are reeeeeeally good at this. Naturals!

We’re pretty sure Dan practiced in the mirror before we had the session though, and that might be why he did so well.

Chris and I discussed it, and this is one of our very favorites:

    LOVE your shoes, Heather!

You both really were so fun to photograph and I’m really looking forward to your wedding in November! Thanks for hanging out with me yesterday!
