  • Camilla & John – Engaged!

One very hot, summery day, Camilla and John got engaged at Eleanor C. Lawrence Park, the story goes. And on a much cooler spring day (yesterday), we revisited the park to take a few pictures, where these two were equal parts goofball and adorable. Most of the time I was cracking up while they were being goofy (okay, I did get a few really great silly ones), but I was clicking away while they were being so super adorable. See for yourself:

When we were done at the park, Camilla and John humored my creative urge (yay!) to do pictures at the firehouse where John is a Lieutenant. Camilla is an EMT with a neighboring fire and rescue company, so I thought it was fitting to take a few pictures here…not to mention I just like the firehouse. 🙂

I can’t think of anything hotter (pun intended!) than smooching in front of a red antique fire truck…
    Aw. (Favorite!)

Thanks so much for hanging out with me yesterday Camilla and John (and Corey and Coelle who were in tow)! I had a blast, and I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding!

  • Marjorie & Nick – Engaged!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with Nick and Marjorie and her son, Christopher, getting my own personal tour of the little nooks and crannies of Georgetown. We had originally scheduled a session way back in the first week of April, but “April showers” had other plans, several times actually. So we rescheduled and rescheduled, and finally ended up with the most gorgeous day ever!

Christopher would have me think that he wasn’t at all into having his picture taken, but I sort of think he was loving it:

    And here’s the family!

    I told you…gorgeous weather.

Marjorie has such a great eye for detail, and she scouted out a few fun spots ahead of time!

So cute! (And I totally wish I could have a yellow garage door.)

They are so utterly adorable in this next one, it literally makes my heart swell. (Favorite!)

Marjorie, Nick, and Christopher: thanks for showing me around your town! I had fun, and I’m so glad we got to hang out before the wedding. I’m looking forward to it, and I’ll see you all then!

  • Renee & Natie – engaged!

Yesterday on a very summer-like day, Renee and Natie braved the heat to meet me in Old Town Alexandria for their engagement session. I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of a mess when it’s over 90 degrees – melted makeup and flyaway frizzy hair – but Renee and Natie looked so fabulous the whole time. Proof of that:

I love how her fingers are tucked into his pocket! Too cute:

    Heloooooooo gorgeous light, gorgeous couple!

I was so excited when Renee and Natie chose Old Town for their location – there are just so many fun little spots to shoot.

When I’m shooting and looking for good spots for an image, I have a habit of saying, “Oh, I like that doorway/wall/alley/etc.” It sounds funny out of context, but whenever I said it, Renee and Natie were great about humoring my every whim, including this next image when I said, “Oh I like that tree and those rocks.” Renee kicked off her shoes and they both climbed over the rocks underneath the tree, and then I grabbed one of my very favorite images from the day:

Thanks for hanging out with me yesterday, Renee and Natie! You were so great for sticking it out the heat. You know I’m super excited for your wedding in November – I can’t wait!

  • Brittlea & Andy – Engaged!

Last weekend was just the most perfect weather for being outdoors. Brittlea (isn’t her name so great?!) and Andy met up with me at Burke Lake Park for their engagement session and we just had the lovliest day! This was my first visit to the park and they really picked a great spot. There are fabulous trails winding all around the lake’s shore, and I was excited to find out that there was a little train that looped around the park as well. Too cute!

I’m starting off with one of my favorites – I love how adoringly they look at each other!

And so it began, our rebellious sign-ignoring visit in the park. Now, I would never put my clients in harm’s way, but I think some rules have to be broken for the sake of good photography. (P.S. I loved the colors they chose to wear!)

Keep…off…what? Trestle? Oh, oops. Too late!

Despite the crowds, there were still so many great quiet spots around the lake.

I really love their expressions in this last one. Clearly they are giggling over something super witty and charming that I said!

Brittlea and Andy – you two are just so sweet. Thanks for hanging out with me for the afternoon! I’ll see you next month for the big day!

  • Guest Books

I’ve finally gotten around to ordering a new sample of the wedding/event guest books that are available as an add-on to your wedding/event coverage! This particular book is an 8.5×11″ hardcover book with 20 pages and a wrap-around photo cover.

What I really love about this album is that the pages are hinged, so they lay so nice and flat while your guests are signing, and while you’re reading it. This design has photos from the couple’s engagement session with me, and plenty of white space throughout for signatures. (If you’d like to see the whole design, you can view it here.)

And just a few close-up details of the album. Hopefully you can see that the pages are quite sturdy, but still flexible like a coffee-table book.
