Okay, I’m cheating just a tiny bit because I’m pretty sure I’ve already blogged this photo, but it’s one of my most favorite wintery images taken in the “snowpocalypse” of 2010. I love a good ice storm! (That is, I love a good ice storm as long as no one gets hurt, loses power, etc. of course.) Happy holidays everyone! Hope you’re all staying warm and cozy.
In general, I think I’m organized for the most part, and in the challenging busy times throughout the year I’m able to stay level and get things done. December, however, feels like a different story. Around the holidays I can feel my body tensing a little with every addition to my to-do list. This photo, taken at a pier in Skagway, Alaska, reminds me of that feeling – of holding things together and at the same time being pulled taught. I’m almost done with my December to-do list, and then I can picture that rope becoming more slack. It’s a nice visual to imagine!
Wow! On week 31, I just realized I’ve managed to hold onto this project longer than I thought I would. It has been fun to look back through some of my archives to find random images that I haven’t looked at in a while. Today’s photo is fairly recent though. It’s one I took on Grand Cayman earlier this year and in these colder months I find myself longing to be back on the island in the sun, gazing at this view.
I’ve been in a training class all week for work (preparing for two certification exams), so I’ve barely had time to think of anything outside of software quality assurance, but every once in a while when I let my mind drift it returns to travel daydreams. I love my job, but I’d certainly love to be back in Iceland exploring! The photo below shows the coastline on a beach near Vik. I love the little slivers of blue sky – it was the first sign of clear weather during our Iceland tour.
Just another photo I found while going through my archives. A display of metal switchplates at a shop called Work the Metal in Louisville, Kentucky. I’d love to go back there sometime – they had so many fun home decor things!
