  • Goal For the Day

This weekend I accompanied Sarah Hodzic to a wedding on Friday (a Midnight wedding!) and Becky Waurio to a wedding on Saturday (in 100-degree weather!) to second-shoot for each of them. Lots of pictures coming soon! This weekend’s weddings were absolutely amazing – I’m always so excited to see what each bride does to make the event her own, and I love looking for all of those little personalized details. Both events had fabulous details and really fun couples, so I had a blast. The combination of working with great photographers, fun couples, and getting to spend the day observing and capturing such joyous occasions makes me totally not even care if I’m feeling the heat of the summer. I love this job!

Needless to say though, I’m a little exhausted today. So, my only goal for the day is to go treat myself to a pedicure since summer is clearly upon us!

  • Afternoon Tea with Princesses

Last Sunday I was cordially invited to have tea in the afternoon with Princess Emma for her fifth birthday.

It was a warm beautiful summery day, and perfect for a tea party in the backyard. All of the guests wore their favorite princess attire, and the decorations were all fit for a princess including real china teacups and even a teeny tiny tea set in the garden for fairies. Here are a few of my favorite details from the day – this is a page from the photo album I designed (click on any of these images to view the entire album):

    There were Tinkerbells and Belles:

One of the highlights of the party was when Cinderella showed up as a surprise! She danced with the girls, sang songs, conducted a princess initiation ceremony with real princess certificates, and painted faces. The girls were in awe of the real-life princess at the party, and it was fun to see their reactions.

And check out this totally amazing birthday cake that Emma’s mom, Jamie, made herself.

It was an absolute honor and a pleasure meeting Princess Emma and her princess friends, and I hope all of her birthday wishes came true!

P.S. One last photo specifically for my photographer friends. Even royal princesses chimp every now and then! With the perfect chimping face, no less. A budding future photographer, perhaps? I think so! (Okay, I’m pretty sure there’s no LCD on the back of that camera, but it was super cute anyway. Maybe she’s wondering what we’re always looking at on the back of our cameras.)

  • Little Signs of Summer

I’m noticing a few bug bites here and there from this weekend, which is my own official sign that summer is here! I’m not sure what it is about me in particular, but I get eaten alive if I’m outdoors for any length of time in the summer. Maybe it’s that my shampoo and conditioner tend to make me smell like a tasty fruit salad? This weekend I was at a wedding on Saturday and a princess birthday party on Sunday (lots of pictures coming soon!), so I’m covered in bites and I’m itchy. If anyone happens to know of a bug repellant that isn’t too harsh and doesn’t smell gross, please let me know! SPF would be a huge bonus.

  • My New Middle Name

This post is mostly for my sister because she might be the only one who really finds it funny. Background: sometimes she and I make up new middle names for each other and address letters and packages with the faux middle name, and it looks like Bath and Body Works is now in on the fun, too:

My real middle name is Elizabeth so I have no idea why they would address it to Susan “Pauline!”

  • Jay & Mina – 5.10.08

A few weeks ago I joined Shelby in Ellicot City, MD for Jay and Mina’s wedding. As always, please hop on over to Shelby’s blog right away for the full story and her amazing coverage of their beautiful event, but here are a few of my own favorites.

    Emory United Methodist Church:

Mina and her dad, just before the ceremony – her gorgeous smile radiating through her veil:

Guests received little containers of bubbles to blow as the bride and groom exited the church, and I caught these two diligently practicing their bubble-blowing techniques beforehand:

A fun shot of the guys:

This wedding had some of THE cutest kids, as seen here:

And here! Check out those dance moves!

Congratulations and best wishes to Jay and Mina, and thank you to Shelby for having me along again. I had a really great time!
