  • Goal For the Day

This weekend I accompanied Sarah Hodzic to a wedding on Friday (a Midnight wedding!) and Becky Waurio to a wedding on Saturday (in 100-degree weather!) to second-shoot for each of them. Lots of pictures coming soon! This weekend’s weddings were absolutely amazing – I’m always so excited to see what each bride does to make the event her own, and I love looking for all of those little personalized details. Both events had fabulous details and really fun couples, so I had a blast. The combination of working with great photographers, fun couples, and getting to spend the day observing and capturing such joyous occasions makes me totally not even care if I’m feeling the heat of the summer. I love this job!

Needless to say though, I’m a little exhausted today. So, my only goal for the day is to go treat myself to a pedicure since summer is clearly upon us!

  • Little Signs of Summer

I’m noticing a few bug bites here and there from this weekend, which is my own official sign that summer is here! I’m not sure what it is about me in particular, but I get eaten alive if I’m outdoors for any length of time in the summer. Maybe it’s that my shampoo and conditioner tend to make me smell like a tasty fruit salad? This weekend I was at a wedding on Saturday and a princess birthday party on Sunday (lots of pictures coming soon!), so I’m covered in bites and I’m itchy. If anyone happens to know of a bug repellant that isn’t too harsh and doesn’t smell gross, please let me know! SPF would be a huge bonus.

  • My New Middle Name

This post is mostly for my sister because she might be the only one who really finds it funny. Background: sometimes she and I make up new middle names for each other and address letters and packages with the faux middle name, and it looks like Bath and Body Works is now in on the fun, too:

My real middle name is Elizabeth so I have no idea why they would address it to Susan “Pauline!”

  • 101 in 1001 Updates

I’ve accomplished a couple of things from my 101 in 1001 list recently but just haven’t gotten around to posting about it. A few days ago, Stephen dropped off his keyboard for me to borrow for a little while, so I am super excited to report that I have started on number 52: “Learn to play the piano or the guitar.” I have always wanted to learn to play piano, but wasn’t sure how to get one into our little townhouse. The keyboard fits perfectly! I’m not sure when exactly to check it off my list because technically, I’ve taught myself to play a complete song including chords with correct fingering (I can play Happy Birthday). But I’m going to call a piano teacher and see if I can take some lessons because I do really want to learn properly and I can see myself enjoying playing for years and years.

A few weeks ago I wrote a thank you note for something other than a gift, so I can cross off number 100.

And then this past weekend I checked off number 25 by taking a few minutes to grab all of the clothes out of my closet and dressers that are either too big or too small (and a few items that are just ready to be retired) and set them aside to donate. There wasn’t that much stuff, only a few shopping bags’ worth, but it was definitely taking up prime real estate in my wardrobe. So you know what that means? I can go shopping now!

  • Our Choice of Subjects

Chris and I went for our usual walk tonight and took our cameras along with us. We walked along the W&OD trail behind our house where I felt inspired to do some ring shots with our own wedding bands (I know, that’s kind of random), and Chris was on the lookout for good nature shots as always.

It was funny when we saw this deer – we were almost home and Chris said, “I wish a big deer was just standing right there…” and right where he pointed, a deer peeked out and then retreated back into the woods a bit. (I wish Chris had wished to find a million dollars right there! I wonder if it would’ve appeared?!)
